This is the ancient road that led from Florence to Siena.
Leaving Florence behind us with the beauty of its palaces and monuments, we almost immediately enter an enveloping naturalistic landscape: a path of ups and downs that takes us to our first stop, San Casciano in Val di Pesa. The road with its paths continues until we can already see in the distance one of the pearls of our region: the Badia di Passignano. Here it is possible to visit the Vallombrosan Abbey, which preserves pictorial masterpieces such as the Last Supper by Ghirlandaio. Once we have recharged our energy, we will resume our journey towards Castellina in Chianti the next day, crossing the heart of the Red Rooster area between rows of vineyards and fields of silvery olive trees. Siena is not far now: despite the approach of the urban center, the route still gives us magnificent glimpses of the Chianti valley, between woods and vineyards, up to Piazza del Campo which envelops us in a welcome embrace: our destination was reached!
